Content Migration Tools

Migrating content to a single repository allows organizations to replace legacy systems, simplify operations, reduce costs and leverage current technologies. However, migration can be one of the most time consuming and risky components of a platform transition. To address this challenge, TriTek Solutions offers Content Migration tools and services to help your organization navigate the migration of content from legacy repositories to an IBM FileNet P8 content repository. Using a multi-threaded process, TriTek tools run in parallel to increase the content migration speed and efficiency. And TriTek's established and tested tool-based approach eliminates the compliance and data integrity risks associated with custom migration efforts.

Migration Practice

With tools to help automate critical migration phases, TriTek provides a fast and cost effective alternative to manually transferring the content or developing custom conversion tools in-house. To migrate your content quickly and with integrity, TriTek has developed tools for automated content extraction from Image Services and Content Services repositories, ingestion into IBM FileNet Content Manger, and annotation migration. These tools enable us to mitigate the necessity for custom code and to tailor our approach to each specific migration; ensuring the most efficient execution possible with minimal risk.

Content Extraction

TriTek has developed a tool to extract documents and their associated metadata from content repositories and store them in such a way that they can then be programmatically imported into a different environment. The utility extracts documents and their indices from the repository and stores them in an intermediary file system. The utility then batches documents into groups of a pre-defined and configured size and stores them in file system folders. Each folder includes metadata files corresponding to the documents extracted in that batch, and sub-folders with the actual document files. By leveraging this structure and these standards, the content is extracted and stored so that another utility can easily pick up these documents, reference the associated metadata and import them to the destination content repository.

Input eXpress

Input eXpress is a utility that allows for the high-speed, high-volume import of electronic documents into IBM FileNet content repositories. After content is extracted from legacy repositories and placed in a file system, Input eXpress automatically identifies the corresponding index values and commits the objects into a P8 Content Manager repository. (External storage and media, such as FTP, NFS, tape, CDs and DVDs are also supported with Input eXpress.) Several configurable options are available, including the creation of output files for references, exception files for error identification, and security policies to provide an extra level of protection and document access control.

Annotation Migration

To manage the complexity of annotation migration, TriTek has developed a process that runs parallel with the extraction tool to migrate annotations from legacy repositories and import the annotations into the destination content repository. During the content extraction phase of the migration, annotations are extracted from content repositories and stored in a directory as an XML file. During the import of content into an IBM FileNet repository, this file directory is referenced to match annotations with the corresponding content so annotations are properly migrated.
